ŠPELA ŠEDIVY
as a sculptor, I most often expresses myself through stone, exploring themes such as fragility, transience, contrasts, as well as resilience and strength. My works have been exhibited in group exhibitions in Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany.
I co-created the intervention project KipAktiviti II, which received the Student Prešeren Award in 2022, and participated in the 9th Berlin art fair POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair the same year.
Most recently, I held a solo exhibition titled Instructions for Use Are Enclosed at Alkatraz Gallery in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

I graduated from the Secondary School for Design Maribor in 2011, after which I enrolled at the Higher Vocational College in Sežana, specializing in stone design.
In 2013, under the mentorship of Alyosha Moeran, I completed practical training during a student exchange program in Brighton, England. Matej Župec and I won a competition for the design and creation of stone elements on the renovated 28th August Square in Sežana, organized by the Higher Education Center Sežana in collaboration with the Municipality of Sežana and the company Marmor Sežana. Together, we carved three public stone sculptures based on our winning concept. In 2014, I graduated with this work under the mentorship of sculptor Damjan Švara.
That same year, I enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, majoring in applied arts (ceramics and glass course), where I graduated in 2018 with a project titled Use of the materials characteristic of Trenta for a space intervention under the mentorship of Prof. Tanja Pak.
I am author of the manual Stone and Marking: A Professional Guide on the Possibilities of Using Stone for Marking Tourist Spots (2021), created as part of the project MITSKI PARK, in which I participated from 2018 to 2020.
I am currently completing my postgraduate studies in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana under the mentorship of Prof. Alen Ožbolt.
